With the title SONIC IMAGINATIONS, the 2023 rendition of the Sounding City Summer School focused on visualizing the sound of Struer in the past, present and future.

The summer school consisted of 6 imaginations which used sounds and other techniques to tell about Struer Harbour, the history and cultural heritage of the area and the soundscapes we are already in.

Through sound recordings and fieldwork, the students have created their interactive proposal for how citizens and visitors can experience Struer now and in the future.

The summer school took place from the 31st of July to the 18th of August 2023.

In the 2022 edition of the Sounding City Summer School, the students researched how residents in urban quarters, urban wilding environments and the landscapes surrounding the city may interact with and through soundscapes and sonic interventions and become aware of sustainable cohabitation with the more-than-human life.

As part of the summer school, the students solved cases which contributed to the collection of materials for Struer Museum's new project, Gademuseet (the Street Museum).

The summer school took place from the 2nd of August to the 19th of August 2022. The students' projects were shown at a final exhibition as part of the course.

In 2021, the summer school covered how sound studies and urban studies connect in participatory audience engagement to make public spaces and urban environments spaces for democratizing processes.

The students worked with the following cases:

  • The Harbour
  • The Sound Cluster
  • The Sound Garden
  • Struer Railway Station
